Looking for restaurants open for Thanksgiving in Savannah? I’ve got you covered! I’ve come up with a list of places that will either be…

a.) open and serving a special Thanksgiving menu, or
b.) open and serving their regular menu items.

At the end of the post, I’ve also included a list of restaurants that are offering (order-ahead) Thanksgiving takeout options.

These are all verified listings, and I’ve linked directly to each restaurant’s Thanksgiving menu whenever possible.

For any day of the week other than Thanksgiving, I’ve written a handy insider’s guide to the best restaurants in Savannah.

NOTE: This list was for Thanksgiving 2023. I’ll start updating this post in October of 2024 as restaurants begin updating their holiday hours and menus.

Café M will be open from 8 a.m. to noon on Thanksgiving day in 2023. This is one of my top picks for breakfast in Savannah’s Historic District, and it’s a classic spot to indulge in a Parisian-style breakfast.

Cha Bella

Afterwards, you can head over to the nearby Savannah Christmas Market to do some holiday shopping.

Starland District

The Starland District is also known as the Thomas Square Streetcar District, and it is located just south of the Victorian District. Here are a few good restaurants in Starland that will be open on Thanksgiving day.

The Garage

Location: Starland District
Address: 2605 Whitaker St, Savannah, GA 31401
Holiday Hours: 5 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.
Website: The Garage at Victory North

The Garage is a popular spot in the Starland District for late-night eats. Their menu is designed for sharing, and the ambiance is warm and cozy.

Ukiyo

Location: Starland District
Address: 2224 Bull Street, Savannah, GA 31401
Holiday Hours: 5 p.m – 10 p.m.
Website: Ukiyo

Ukiyo is the place to go in Savannah for street-style Japanese food. They have plenty of indoor seating, as well as a few outdoor tables (with heaters, if needed). Or, just do as I do and sit at the sushi bar to watch your food being made!

Victorian District

Most of my go-to restaurants in the Victorian District are closed for Thanksgiving, but I can usually count on one of my favorite spots for Chinese food to be open…

Egg Roll King

Location: Victorian District
Address: 1314 Montgomery St, Savannah, GA 31401
Holiday Hours: Until they decide to close
Website: Egg Roll King

The best thing about Egg Roll King is that they have very generous servings. Love them, love their food! I called them on the 23rd (Thankgiving day) to see how late they’d be open, and the answer I got was “Nobody knows! Until we decide to close! We’re open right now, though.” (That was shortly after 3:00 p.m.)

Thanksgiving Takeout Options in Savannah

The following restaurants are not offering in-house meals on Thanksgiving day, but they are offering takeout options. You can pre-order your meal to eat at home or in your hotel room.

Since these are takeout options and the location isn’t as important, I’ll list them in alphabetical order.

Dottie’s Market

Location: Historic District North
Address: 207 W Broughton St, Savannah, GA 31401
Website: Dottie’s Market
Place Order By: November 17, 2023

Dottie’s is a nostalgic little restaurant specializing in made-from-scratch recipes handed down from the owner’s great-grandmother (and the restaurant’s namesake), Ms. Dottie. Everything is made with love!

The Thanksgiving to-go menu includes a whole turkey, giblet gravy, cranberry sauce, a choice of three stuffing options, a choice of five sides, and a choice between four delicious desserts.

Desposito’s

Location: Outskirts of Savannah | Isle of Armstrong
Address: 3501 Macceo Dr, Thunderbolt, GA 31410
Website: Desposito’s
Place Order By: November 19, 2023

If you’re not a fan of turkey and would rather enjoy some seafood fresh from the Georgia Coast, then Desposito’s might be a good option for your holiday dinner.

Their Thanksgiving to-go menu consists of turkey (with gravy), ham, lobster pot pie, or lobster mac and cheese. You can also count on popular sides, biscuits, and desserts.

Erica Davis Lowcountry

Location: Outskirts of Savannah | Thunderbolt
Address: 3209 E. Victory Drive, Savannah, GA 31404
Website: Erica Davis Lowcountry
Place Order By: November 22, 2023

I love to rave about the folks at Erica Davis Lowcountry any chance I get. They consistently make it onto my list of the best restaurants in Savannah, so this is probably the option I’d pick if I were ordering a Thanksgiving takeout meal.

You can choose from Smoked Turkey, Beef Tenderloin, or Smoked Salmon for the entree, plus there are options for Crab Stew or a Smoked Boston Butt. If you enjoy Brussels sprouts, they have the best in the city (in my opinion). There are plenty of sides available, and you can choose Peach Cobbler or Pecan Pie for dessert.

They started out in the catering business, so they have takeout orders down to a science.

Savannah Smokehouse

Location: Historic District North
Address: 16 W State St, Savannah, GA 31401
Website: Savannah Smokehouse
Place Order By: November 20, 2023

Savannah Smokehouse is offering a Thanksgiving to-go menu that they’ve dubbed a “Heat & Serve Feast.” The price tag is fantastic, coming in at under $200 for a true feast that’ll serve 12 people.

The meal includes smoked turkey breast with stuffing and gravy, sweet potato soufflé, green bean casserole, and a choice of banana pudding, pecan pie, or pumpkin pie for dessert.

They also have an option to order half or full-sized pans of the most popular side dishes to go.

Sisters of the New South

Location: Outskirts
Address: 2601 Skidaway Road
Website: Sisters of the New South
Place Order By: November 17, 2023

Sisters of the South is one of the few options on this list offering a choice of traditional baked turkey or a popular (at least in the South) fried option. The meal can feed a family of 8 – 10 for approximately $130.

They’re known for their Southern-style soul food, and that’s apparent in the menu. For sides, you can choose from mac and cheese, collard greens, yams, cornbread, okra and tomatoes, cabbage, and more.

Sweet Patricia’s

Location: Starland District
Address: 1722 Habersham, Savannah, GA 31401
Website: Sweet Patricia’s
Place Order By: November 19, 2023

If you enjoy cooking your own turkey but run out of steam when it comes to the sides, the team behind Sweet Patricia’s can handle the task for you. Similar to Dottie’s, the restaurant is named after the grandmother of one of the owners, and many of the recipes are Italian-style dishes handed down through the generations.

The restaurant is offering numerous side dishes, desserts, and add-ons. They even have breakfast options if you’re feeding a large crew!

You can choose from options like Italian-Style Sausage Stuffing, Fontina and Cheddar Mac and Cheese, Roasted Parmesan Green Beens, Traditional Lasagne, French Toast Casserole, New York-Style Cheesecake, and more. Yum.

Strangebird | Common Thread

Location: Victorian District
Address: 1220 Barnard St, Savannah, GA 31401
Website: Strangebird
Place Order By: November 17, 2023

Strangebird is part of the same restaurant group behind Common Thread in Savannah and FARM Bluffton. They offer farm-to-table dishes, so you can consistently count on the freshest ingredients.

For Thanksgiving, their takeout menu includes Smoked Organic Free-Range Turkey with sides of Cranberry Chutney, Buttermilk Mashed New Potatoes, and Cornbread Dressing. For dessert, choose between pumpkin or pecan pie.

At $350 for a meal meant to serve 6-8 people, this is the most expensive takeout option on the list. However, you do have the option to order just the turkey, just the sides, or just the desserts.

The Pirates’ House

Location: Historic District North
Address: 20 E Broad, Savannah, GA 31401
Website: The Pirates’ House
Place Order By: November 17, 2023 ($50 deposit required)

For $185, you can choose from a turkey dinner or ham dinner at The Pirates’ House that serves 4 – 6 people. No matter which option you choose, they each come with numerous sides (included in the price), their famous honey butter rolls, and a choice of pumpkin or pecan pie.

There’s an option to select add-ons, too. Want to order an entire pan of stuffing or mashed potatoes? No problem! Need a quart of gravy? They’ve got it. You can request a cheesecake or apple streusel pie, too.

Things To Do Thanksgiving Week in Savannah

When you’re ready to see what events you can enjoy once your belly is full of turkey, I suggest reading my post about Savannah in December.

Many of Savannah’s top holiday events begin Thanksgiving week (the Holiday Boat Parade of Lights, the city’s annual tree lighting, the Holiday Lights & Sights Trolley Tour, the Savannah Christmas Market, and December Nights & Lights at the Botanical Gardens), and that post provides the scoop on all of them!

Fellow “Gilmore Girls” fans may remember when Luke snarkily pointed out that Thanksgiving is a day to give thanks “that we’re not Native Americans who got their land stolen in exchange for smallpox-infested blankets.” [video clip here]

On that note, if you’d like to spend some time this week learning about the indigenous peoples of Coastal Georgia, the best place to do so is Massie Heritage Center.

If you prefer to spend the day volunteering, I suggest contacting the folks at Emmaus House to see if they need any assistance. They serve hundreds of meals daily to those in need within our community.
