If you’re planning to visit Savannah in March, you’re making a good choice. It’s one of the most popular months of the year!
That’s because it’s when the azaleas bloom and when the city hosts its biggest annual celebration — our popular St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
There are plenty of other events happening throughout the month that I’ve listed below.

Savannah Weather in March
This month offers some of the best weather we see in Savannah all year! It’s hard to beat average highs in the 70s and lows around 50 degrees.
It’s also a fairly dry month, since we only get about 8 days with any measurable rainfall.
Overall, Savannah’s weather during March is almost a reason to visit in itself — especially if you time your visit to coincide with the azaleas blooming.

The Top Events in March
The busiest events in March are the St. Patrick’s Day Parade (hundreds of thousands of people attend), the Greening of the Fountain, and the Savannah Music Festival.
The event I’m most excited about this month is a photography exhibit at Lone Wolf Lounge called Traces of a Tangible Silence. It opens on the 6th and runs all month.
I’ve arranged the events below by date to help you find them quickly. St. Patrick’s events are marked with a four-leaf clover (🍀).
Organizers may change an event’s location, date, or time on short notice, so please double-check the links before heading out to an event! I’m good about keeping this list updated, but sometimes last-minute changes happen.

Traveling march 20 leaving 22 nd for Hilton head. What should we do?
What should you do in Hilton Head? That depends a lot on your interests. The water will be too cold for swimming then (in my opinion), but it’s usually a nice time of year to go for walks along the beach or relax in a chair while reading a book or watching the world go by. Here’s a post about Hilton Head that has a section with about 15 things to do: https://savannahfirsttimer.com/hilton-head-island/
